‘Money Transfer’ Period Begins in WhatsApp

Popular messaging application WhatsApp will activate its feature that allows users to transfer money to each other.

WhatsApp, which is within the social media giant Facebook, is on the agenda once again with its new feature. WhatsApp will soon be able to restart its payment service in Brazil, whose fate turns into a snake story. Because the Brazilian Central Bank gave the green light to Facebook, albeit partially.

According to preliminary information, the Brazilian Central Bank is preparing to allow WhatsApp users to send money to each other with Visa and Mastercard cards.

An unnamed official said, “The final preparations are being made. This feature will be available in Brazil as soon as possible.” However, Brazil is only preparing to allow its users to send money to each other, contrary to what Facebook wants.

The plan of Facebook, which owns WhatsApp, was to offer the opportunity to shop on the platform with the system to be integrated into WhatsApp. Facebook started to try this system in Brazil in 2020, and the project was suspended with the decision after.

The project is planned to be integrated into many countries in the long term. There is no official date on the subject.
