Growth rate tells you more than the raw follower number: 400 new followers is a great month at 4,000 followers and a slow one at 400,000. Enter today’s count and the count from 30 days ago and the calculator shows your monthly rate, a 12-month projection and the estimated date for your next milestone — with a compound model (growth feeds on reach) or a linear one (steady, conservative).
How this calculator works
Monthly growth rate = (followers today − followers 30 days ago) ÷ followers 30 days ago × 100.
Compound projection: followers × (1 + rate)months. Linear projection: followers + gained per month × months. Months to goal are solved from the same formulas; the date adds those months to today.
Typical monthly growth for healthy accounts in 2026: 2–5% for established accounts, 10–30% for small accounts posting consistently, higher only during viral periods.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good monthly follower growth rate?
For accounts under 10K, 10–30% per month is strong; between 10K and 100K, 5–10%; above 100K, 2–5%. Rates below 1% usually mean reach has stalled and content needs a change.
Should I use the compound or the linear model?
Compound is realistic for growing accounts because more followers mean more reach. Linear is the safe estimate for mature accounts or when your growth comes from a fixed source such as a weekly newsletter.
Why did my growth rate drop even though I gained followers?
The rate is relative to your size. Gaining 500 followers a month keeps the rate falling as the account grows; that is normal. Compare gained followers per post or per 1,000 views instead.
Does buying followers help me reach my goal faster?
It fakes the number and kills the rate: bought accounts never engage, your reach drops, and the platforms remove them in cleanups. Growth from real content compounds; bought followers only subtract.
